Wait Quietly

“It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”
— Lamentations 3:26 (NIV)

Have you ever found yourself pacing the floor, praying for God to move — but also wishing He’d hurry up a little?
I’ve been there more times than I can count. Waiting isn’t easy. Especially when we’re weary, desperate for answers, or watching something in our lives crumble and praying for God to fix it.

But this verse from Lamentations stopped me in my tracks this week:

“It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”

That phrase — wait quietly — hit me differently this time. It’s not about sitting in silence or pretending everything’s fine. It’s about a settled heart. A kind of stillness that says, “God, I trust You more than I trust my need to control this.”

When Jeremiah wrote these words, everything around him was in ruins. The city of Jerusalem had fallen, people were suffering, and hope seemed lost. Yet even in the middle of heartbreak, he chose to believe that God was still good, still faithful, and still working behind the scenes.

Waiting quietly doesn’t mean doing nothing. It means letting go of the inner chaos — the worrying, the what-ifs, the endless need to know when. It’s choosing peace over panic. It’s trusting that God’s timing isn’t late… it’s perfect.

If you’re in a season of waiting right now, I want to remind you:
God hasn’t forgotten you. He sees the tears you don’t show anyone. He knows the ache that words can’t quite capture. And He’s not idle — He’s preparing something good, something that will come in the right time and in the right way.

So breathe. Rest. Keep praying. Keep hoping.
And while you wait, let your soul grow still before Him.
Because it really is good — so good — to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

Prayer:
Lord, teach me to wait quietly. Calm my anxious heart and help me trust that You are working, even when I can’t see it. Give me peace in the pauses and patience in the process. Remind me that Your timing is good, and so are You. Amen.
